Portrait & Wedding Photographer: Erin Melissa bio picture
  • Thanks for stopping by my website and taking the time to learn more about Erin Melissa Photography. Here's a small glimpse into my work.

With my camera, I aspire to capture beauty and hope, especially in the most unlikely places. There are wonders to be found in the obvious: world renowned sights and smiling faces. But wonders can also be found within the overlooked orphan, the rubble of an old building, and the hope that rises in the midst of trying times.

Everyone has a story. My job is to give the world and the generations to come a glimpse into yours. Whether that entails capturing a highschool senior’s unique personality, a bride’s anticipation on her wedding day, a child’s wonder, or a non-profit’s grateful reciprocates, it’s a privilege to play a part in documenting their story.

My hope is that through my photographs, your eyes will be opened to beauty and your heart to hope.

Here's to your story, the moments you treasure.

LoveBirds: Cameron & Carly Engagement

You might recognize them from an old post… They are two of my best friends and they are getting married this summer! I could not be more happy for Cameron and Carly!!

A few months ago, I drove up to Chicago to spend the weekend with them and shoot their engagement photos. Cameron attends University of Illinois and suggested that we shoot at different locations around the campus. I was thrilled when he brought us to a colorful garden and beautiful music building.  Additionally, Cameron gave us a tour of the campus building that their Wedding Reception will be held in. U of I is such a large campus filled with great architectural character. I am definitely blessed to have it as the backdrop for their Engagement and Wedding photos. Also, who would not want to photograph such an attractive couple? They say they are awkward in front of the camera, but they look comfortable and natural to me… I am sure you will agree.

LifeStyle: Products for “Felt My Heartbeat”

If you’re into handmade and vintage things… You already know about Etsy.com. It’s where you can “Buy and sell handmade or vintage items, art and supplies on Etsy, the world’s most vibrant handmade marketplace.” What an incredible resource for art and antiques! If you have never heard of the website, take some time to check it out. Warning : It has the ability to consume hours of your life, in a great way!

Marissa, a mutual friend and Etsy Shop owner, contacted me about shooting photographs of her products: specifically unique necklaces made from old t-shirts. She arranged for a friend, Kelsey, to model the necklaces and we set a date. Fast forward a few weeks later and we have a few of the final photos displayed below. Enjoy the photographs, Etsy, and take some time to check out Marissa’s Shop titled “Felt My Heartbeat.” (The product photos are not displayed there yet, but I am sure that they will be within the next few weeks.)
